Only 1.5 nautical miles away from the island of Paxos you will find the island of Antipaxos. This small green covered piece of land, with olive trees and vineyards, has got an area of only 5 square kilometers.
It only has one harbour, which is called “Agrapidia”. The villages of the island consist of low houses and vineyards. But, here in this island, you will find some of the most beautiful beaches in the Ionian Sea, like the exotic beach of “Paradise”. “Paradise beach” is unique in the island of Antipaxos, because of its white gold silky sand beach and the clean, light blue colours of the water.
During the summer season lots of yachts, from all over the world, anchor here to enjoy their holidays. Also, boats from Corfu, Paxos, Parga and Sivota sail in daily to enjoy swimming in the clear waters of this island.
In 432 BC the great naval battle between two Greek city-states, the Corcyra and Corinth, took place around the islands. 70 Corcyrians triremes and 30 Corinthians triremes sank in the sea.
So whilst you spend your holidays on Corfu you have the opportunity to visit this island on a day trip.
